So there’s that. Looks so much better. They rub over bigger bumps and hard turns. Which doesn’t make sense cuz while they are 1.5” wider, they don’t poke *IN* but maybe a couple millimeters. They’re also only 0.3” taller than stock.
Oil change, PS hose, plugs/coils, VTEC solenoid AND gasket, and filter housing gaskets… DONE. Now have a P0131 code: upstream o2 sensor. Fairly cheap and should be pretty easy to do.
Hmm is there a loose fender liner, strut boot hanging down/disintegrating, or something? That's all I can think of, 17x8 +45 and 235/45/17 shouldn't rub at stock height. Unless something suspension-wise is out of alignment. Just thinking aloud here.
Either way looks great lol. One of the all time great Honda/Acura OEM wheels.
When I replaced my hood struts and the hood went right up, and stayed up, I was surprised at how much joy that brought me.
I’ll keep listening and looking. I haven’t driven it much since I put the wheels on it oddly, lol.
o2 sensor showed up. Might toy with that this weekend. Need to do the VC gasket on the GF’s Camry first tho.
Hit up 2 junkyards this weekend. Found a black 0102 coupe bumper but it looked like a primered aftermarket bumper and had some damage so I passed on it.
Wasn’t sure what years/models but I need to keep my eye out for a 99-03 TL master door switch. They light up and I believe they swap right over.
Also need brakes in the front. They’re getting pretty thin (1/8”). I have rear rotors so I may do the fronts. Unsure of their thickness or if they can be turned but I might as well. They’re not terribly expensive and it’s a decent piece of mind.
So I picked these up off of Amazon. I’m very familiar with Detroit Axle as I work with them often. These have a lot of real good reviews with the exception of squeaking pads after several months, so we’ll see.
Was gonna tackle my o2 sensor but I didn’t have a socket or 22mm wrench. Might try messing with it later today but I haven’t felt the greatest lately. Also ordered my hood struts. Those should be here pretty quick and I can do them as soon as they show up.
Rear pads were pretty much gone. Fronts weren’t terrible but might as well. I know factory wheels are 15 and these are 17 but I didn’t think the rotors would look as small as they do. Oh well, lol.
CEL and TCS light were both gone instantly.
Still on the look out for a coupe bumper and a retro.
Also replaced both front corner signals for something brighter. They’re not as deep amber but a more yellow. They’ll do for now.
SRS light is the only one left and I wanna try cleaning my buckles before I take it to a dealer. Just cuz I know my local dealer will try and screw me and the dealer that I know will do it right is an hour away.
Drove… idk.. 50-ish miles, CEL and TCS came back on.
P0170 - fuel trim malfunction bank 1
P0171 - fuel trim bank 1
P0401 - EGR / MAP SENSOR
Gonna try unhooking the battery first. See what happens. If they come back I’ll try cleaning the EGR and MAP. Kinda really hoping it isn’t the OTHER o2 sensor…
Brushed up on my J30… Intake manifold has to come off. Kinda wish I had a J32 or J35 IM to swap on. If I’m taking it all apart, I’ll need gaskets for the manifold, EGR, and TB.
Debating running a can of season or something through first.
I recently replaced the valve cover gaskets on my front and rear banks. I just reused the IM and TB gaskets, but they looksd pretty good so I guess it just depends. I was using ericthecarguy's video as DIY guide, and he said he always reuses them so that played a role too haha.
New brakes look good. Always made me chuckle how small the rear rotors are on these cars.
