Clutch sticks to floor, alarm is acting weird

1. I was going to drive my car (02 accord sedan lx) to my mechanic to install a progress rsb.

2. When I approached my car on the street, I noticed that my doors weren't locked. I was missing only 1 thing, my iPhone lightning cable. I didn't think anything of it. Maybe I misplaced it and forgot to lock my door.

3. Decided to warm up my car by going on the highway a bit. Drove slightly agressive to test the lean before installing the rsb. Reached the mechanic fine. Turned engine off.

4. Then I needed to pull the car into another spot. Problem starts. Turn in engine. Clutch pedal sticks to floor. Put in reverse, car moves without release clutch pedal. Engine dies. Try a few times, same thing. I managed to move it a little bit and then completely craps up on me.

5. My alarm then starts sounding off. I have been using valet mode for months. It suddenly activated for no reason. It's a avital low model alarm. Nothing special. I just use it for the remote lock.

6. Mechanic is suspecting master cylinder, air in the system? But why did my alarm go crazy? Was my car broken into? They doing the diagnostics now.

7. What should I check with them? Bleed the clutch before changing stuff? Could the alarm kill the clutch?

8. If I was to replace my clutch, what else should I change? I'd rather spend more and get it all over with. Aftermarket or oem? Car has 160k miles.

Please give me some advice. Thanks!

If the clutch is in need of replacement, grab an OEM Exedy clutch. Amazon has them...

Clearly there is a problem in your clutch hydraulics. I'd just change 'em all out. Master Cylinder and Slave sylinder anyway. Check lines and fittings for leaks.

As for the alarm, do you have any sort of wiring diagram? That's pretty funky.

^I'd get it resurfaced if it's still good. If not, I'd replace it with a lighter one myself.

I think ur clutch is fine because it will still move it has to be the cylinder because it has no pressure so its grabbing without u needing to release.

Same thing happened to my 6GA one day. It's definitely clutch hydraulics. A good test of the health of the clutch is pulling onto the highway, shifting into top gear, wait a moment at 45-50 mph then floor it at WOT for a little while. If the revs rise rapidly, the clutch is dead. Good luck with the fix!

+1

As for the alarm issue, I'd see if it happens again. Take note of your actions at the current time and how you got yourself there. Maybe it was normal operation of that particular alarm. Unfortunately, to make something like this work with every particular parameter of every single car is difficult and will often cause troubles like this.

And yeah, hydraulics are the place to start here. If that doesn't get you done and you still need and/or want a clutch, that's the one I would use/used myself.

Hey everyone. Thanks for the advice. My mechanic called back and also said that my clutch is most likely ok. I've also never experienced slipping before. He said most likely need to change master and slave cylinder. Around $400-ish for parts and labor. He's gonna call back to confirm once he can confirm the parts. Sounds pretty good right? He hasn't looked at the alarm yet.

400 sounds pricey to me but then again Ive never asked what the usual cost go for but a clutch master cylinder goes for like 30-40.
