I just recently took down my auto V6 tranny for rebuilding... Currently, it is still being worked on by a friend who is a seasoned honda mechanic and transmission specialist... only paying $350 for labour since i took it down and will put it back up myself.. 300 for the rebuild kit as well so right now I've spent $650 so far.

u shud have just had him do a 6 speed type s swap since hes ur friend.

yesterday my car was just revving in 2nd as if it was in neutral. i turned it off for 20 minutes and it was working fine.

then today when i'd come to a stop, i'd go and around 1600rpms it gave the car a kick and just revved then it caught back on and went to 2nd.

2 months ago it was slipping BAD, and when i'd come to a stop, the car would jerk foward. but that went away when i turned it off for 10 minutes.

i have the V-6 tranny and i'm at 127xxx miles.

FYI: I charge $1500 min. To do a trans. Rebuild but for 6GA members I can do it for $1200 out the door.

Damn - that's a crazy price. I brought a friend to pick up his car from an import shop a few weeks ago and while I was there I asked what they charge for a rebuilt 6thGen/I4 trans - $3100 out the door.

i just sent mine to the shop for 1.2k with one year warranty. if you have 2002 accord and have slippage. i suggest you to take advantage of their extended warranty to 7 years. i have a 2001 accord since i bought my car used like 3 months back i didn't know until a honest mechanic told me (my warranty expired dec 2008 -_-). so just bring in your car to the dealer with your vin number. if Honda does it they will give you 3 years warranty. that is as far as i know. just check with them. oh yeah inorder to qualify your car must be under 109k miles. at least that is what my honda dealer said. just make sure to go get it checked before agreeing to anything.

I paid $1800 for my tranny. I wanted 5 speed but the dude said it would cost 2500..... but i was like just fix it. I was driving to Dallas from Huntsville AL and my RPMs just shot up to 5000 at 60-65 mph. I was only 15 miles away but still if it happened any later i wouldve been screwed!
