I've seen some pretty nice TUNED hand made mufflers. If he really knows what he's doing, this would be a viable option.

I wouldn't let them choose the muffler a lot of the muffler that they have at muffler shops especially the n1 mufflers are really cheap loud and they don't do the job they're supposed to if I were you I would buy a quality muffler and then take it to them map installed

buy the resonators and muffler yourself after researching whats best, then bring it to a couple shops and get quotes for piping and labor
