Difference between spirited driving and street racing

Theres things you can do to perhaps make it a tad bit safer for others but that doesn't make it right. they are both wrong. The reason why I decided to put my .02 cents in is because I noticed people where speaking as if one was "righter" then the other. And i disagree with that

Your from NJ you should know everyone drives 5-10 over on the norm on mostly any highway so ur spirited driving is basically just 5mph over everyone else ... sorry but I don't consider that being spirited driving. And I'm not saying your going to get on a highway and the entire time ur going to be going 80. I'm saying when I do it if the speed limit is 45 the most I'll go is 80 if even that and it would be in a short burst just to see how quicly I can get it to that speed. V6 gets you there fairly quickly.

Any road rated at 45 is not safe at any time for 80. I'm not going to go cruising down 202/31 or 22 or anything like that at 80mph, that is taking a massive risk of being pulled over or hurting yourself or someone else.



Take note, my spirited driving is done on back roads. I'm from western NJ, not the northeast corner.

This may sound really bad... But when I'm driving aggressively on a back road, by myself, I'm not really thinking what if this happens what If that happens.. I'm thinking "damn I'm using a lot of gas right now, I'm going to stop driving so hard for the remainder of the ride." take that for what it is haha

I really do believe it has something to do with age. I thought a lot less about consequences and what I was doing when I was 17, too.

Spirited driving is being able to enjoy your car well within its capabilities and leaving no doubt in your mind that no one is at an elevated risk of danger. If you're squealing tires or crossing a yellow that isn't VERY obvious that there is no other car ahead of you in either direction.... You're doing it wrong.

This is the only thing I disagree with out of your entire post ... Again just because you have control of your car it doesn't mean others have control of theirs ... or maybe they do but don't notice ur reckless driving.

ex - to what someone else posted about when someone backed out of the driveway even after being noticed. maybe he did glance and see u coming but never would have thought u was going that fast and continued to back up.

and yea i guess we do have different meanings of it. again i'm not saying spirited driving is going 80 in a 45 ... when i do it its in short burst. crusing at a higher speed then posted is not spirited drivign to me

Who said anything about reckless driving, though?

Also, like I said, if there's any doubt that there could be a car coming around a corner, or from a driveway, or any other scenario, you have to play it safe and assume that there IS a car up ahead.
