Hi everyone,

First post here :)

I'm in the process of buying a used 99 V6 Accord Coupe, and I just have a few questions to ask.

I came across a sale on a JVC KW-NX7000 double-din dvd+nav system, and I want to know if I can install it without modifying the vents, etc. The box sais the dimensions for the install are WxDxH 178x100x160mm or 7-1/16'' x 3-15/16'' x 6-5/16'' .

Can anyone tell me if off the top of their heads this will fit in without having to cut out stuff?

Also, the manual tells me to install the GPS receiver on top of the dash -- however this would look ugly. Is it possible to mount it just UNDER the dash? Someone said GPS signals work through the plastic dash; is this true?

Thanks for everyone's help,

Ian

Can mount double din without cutting...

GPS receiver should work through the dash, but there's a lot more than just plastic in there.

You could stick it on the windshield right where the mirror sticks on and run the wire through the headliner, down the pillar trim and through the dash. That's how my alarm receiver is mounted.

Thanks for the quick reply -- would I have to remove the headliner? Or just the A-pillar? The included wire is only around 3-4 feet though.

So you think mounting it under the dash would lower reception?

I really dont think that reception would be horrible if you were to put it under your dash.
But I would probably try and mount above the mirror or something.

Since the wire is shorter i would try to stick it behind where the clock is somewhere. When you take off the shroud you will see that there is some room up there. I would just stick it in there and try it. If it doesn't work then all you would've wasted is about 5 minutes time. The signal already has to pass through the metal body and/or glass so I would think that it should work in there.

You can pull back the headliner and stuff the wire in there, the A-pillar trim comes off though.

You can try and see if you can mount in in the corner of the windshield and then run it down the A-pillar. If worse comes to worst, it shouldn't be an issue mounting it in the dash. Just double check you get a signal before you close up shop for the day. You'll probably lose the signal under bridges and in the city easier than if it was mounted on the dash or windshield though.

Thanks for all the replys guys.

I'll try mounting it between the vents, right under the dash. If that doesn't work I'll move it up through the A-pillar and mount it on the corner; I hope theres enough wire though.

I'll let you know how it works out.

Thanks
