This is not a DIY thread.

I just wanted to show you guys my black out interior process.

*Tan was the stock look

This stuff is holding up pretty well. It works great if you take your time.
-sanding
-cleaning Clean Vinyl and Plastic with ACETONE!
-priming
-painting
-clearcoating the plastics.

Plastic:
Im still iffy about the plastic pieces getting scrapped. I have only done the low traffic areas like the back pillars and little pieces in the window. 4 layers of clearcoat should help out:)
-I used Flat black, then the clearcoat made the shine.

Vinyl:
Stuck to the vinyl like a champ!

Suede:
I did more than 5 coats on the suede seats and rubbed them in very hard with my hand to ensure it got down to the bottom fibers. Let dry for 5-7 days. Then rubbed with a stiff brush to get the crust off. Then vaccumed. All these pieces, depending on the size took at least 1 hour or 2.
It HAS held up great:) It has been prob. 8 Months and no fading.

Vinyl on the Door

The lower plastic[Prob. will leave the brownish tan like it is(on the bottoms of the doors and under the seatbelts) Because that is the major foot traffic area.] But all the tan will become black, besides the sueade on the doors and i am wrappin my front pillars:)

Decided to Dynamat while all the panels were out.

Does it act as a dye or a paint? How do the fabric pieces feel when they are dry? Do they feel any different.

Hey man!
well idk actually, i put it on heavy and got it in the cracks and rubbed it down. Most people dnt and thats where the fading comes in cause the paint is only on the tips of the fibers.
And yes the fabric is super stiff after, but if you brush it with like a carpet scrub, then vaccum hard- it is almost like oem. But gets softer with use(sitting on it)

Make sure the temperature is about 60 or above. I noticed it plays a roll in the plastics

Let me know how the vinyl and plastic holds up. I just did my seats (glad you found the brush technique, works miracles) and I have some scuffs on one door panel that bug me. I am hesitant to try as on a coupe, the doors are vinyl but the back is plastic. I really don't want to use two different materials because I am concerned about paint on vinyl or dye on plastic, whatever route I choose.

Looks great though.

Good attention to detail.

I like the end result.

For the doors, did you just tape off the cloth areas and paint the vinyl?

Hey, i used acetone on the doors to clean it good. then i used the duplicolor and it has stuck great. I have rubbed it hard. It sticks better on the vinly than it does anything else. Also I feel so weird painting plastics, if something hard and pointy were to hit it, there would deff. be a mark:(
Everything is holding up great as of now.. goiin on 10 months(approx.)

Hey, for the vinyl on the doors i DID tape off top and bottom. Cleaned it and sprayed 4-5 coats on. Sticks great and no flaking. I will eventually get new fabric for the tops of the doors.
Also, i took the door panels off to paint it! DO THIS!

Good to know it has held up. I tested some plastic (no clear) and it didn't hold up to my test abuse but I was a bit rough with it lol.

I am not sure if I actually want to do a color change on my door panel/rear plastics yet. I have almost finished my seats, ran out of cans and nobody has it in stock around me, just need to do the driver seat. Then I need to redo my door inserts. Once I redo that, I will decide if I keep grey or go black. Thanks for the info. It may come in handy later.

Sorry if I am hi-jacking here. I can remove if you don't want this here.

Is anyone interested in a DIY on fabric? When researching this product, I found many people hated the results but others had great luck. I really took note of what people did who where happy, had good results, and it stood the test of time. I am not sure my will hold up but between my brushing with a nylon brush and testing them with cleaning with both rubbing alcohol and throwing a headrest in the wash for a test, I am pretty confident. I have one more seat to do so it wouldn't be hard for me to take some pics and explain.
