the best and obvious reason would be because they suck. but actually my experience with ebay coilovers were that they lower themselves automatically. iuno how to explain but my car went lower and lower every week. also a lot of hop and my shocks blew out very soon. hope that helps

Cheaper quality metals/alloys.
Practically ZERO dollars spent on R&D.
ZERO support after your purchase.
Almost never fits right.

You get what you pay for, better to buy some lowering springs and use those with your stock shocks.

my frnd's civic had ebay coilover...the cull coilover set up...

guess what happened after year? bottom half of shock came off..
which led him to head on collision with huge suv on other side of the road...

its your car....you decide what you wanna spend money on and put on your car...

but think about whats the consequence you will face when they fail.....
its like the insurance we have for our car.....it is completely waste of money when nothing ever happens...but we never knwow hwats gonn happen....so its for that "one" time "what if" moment....

well i have seen them work prefectly fine for years

If you think so.. then get them. Use them. Why the HELL are you asking us about them if you think they work so "perfectly fine."
