i am contacting eD to get a 2ohm sub back to answer sonnicks question.

i will have 2 dual vc 2 ohm subs wired to 2 ohms

my reason for posting this was because i know some people had some connection with eD here as we had a forum discount for a while, and i was hoping they may know if the "4 ohm" sub can work at 2 ohms, and i guess it cant. also, wondering if the diferent styles will really matter, or if eD still has some eu700s in stock that they could give me instead of the 7kv2, or maybe give me another 7kv2 :)

i thought you had a two channel amp?

most 2ch's can't handle a 2 ohm load when bridged.

what model amp is it?

Maybe he's gonna wire one to each channel at 4 ohms? I'm starting to get confused myself..

i think he's the most confused :)

one to each channel at 4 ohms would be the same as 8 ohms bridged.

that's basically like wasting half of your power :(

how do you know you had a dvc 2 ohm sub before?

because, with that amp you should have two dvc 4 ohm subs.

here's your amp's ratings:

2 x 200 @ 4 Ohm
2 x 300 @ 2 Ohm
1 x 600 @ 4 Ohm

so you want to wire each sub like this:

1_4ohmDVC_2ohm.gif

and wire one to each channel of the amp.

or you can wire them both up together like this:

2_4ohmDVC_4ohm.gif

and bridge the channels.

both of these configurations will give you 300W to each sub.

ok, i dont know if ive stated this yet, but i am basically retarded when it comes to wiring. i just wired it basically like this diagram (below) but instead of coming from one output, i gave each channel its own output as shown in the directions from my amp for 2 channel, 2 sub setup.

also, i had it installed like this for a week before my brother broke one of the subs, and they seemed to work just fine. also remember this sub can handle around 150-200 watts, so they dont need 300 each

oh, i see. (should have bought a smaller amp :))

but since you want it wired like that the picture, then you do need two DVC 2 ohm sub,

i'd suggest sending back the one eD sent, and maybe register and read this thread:

well i grabbed this amp because it was 15 dollars more then the nine.2 which is made for a pair of eu700s, so i figured i can keep this amp when i upgrade everything else, or maybe add on 2 more 7kv2s...
thanks for the link, ill sign up and read that
