My accord has an f3a4 in with the auto transmission. Im currently running i/h/e and am planning on getting a stage 1 cam from bisimoto along with a 50hp shot of nos. This is about the only way to stay legal in California and still pass smog.

First question is if i do do a stage 1 cam will i need a tune to be driveable? if not will i need a tune to get the 10% performance increase? As for the nos im planning on using a the msd 6 plus to retard the timing when the nos solenoid opens up.

What is the best way to get tuned in an auto?? I read an article saying that piggybacks suck because they will trick the ecu by tapping the map sensor which will cause the ecu to adjust the timing if i choose to tune with an apexi will this interfere with the timing the msd box sets?

I am not cheap the only reason im even looking at a piggyback is because hondata and aem ems both say they only work with a manual. I really dont want to go to a stick, this car is a daily driver and i use it for pizza delivery on a military base wich has a stop sign every damn block, ive owned many sticks in my life and it makes this job way more annoying!! I mean ots not a career but delivering to a bunch of drunk marines is a damn good way to pay your way through school.

Soeey if this is a newb questions i dont really know how to do much to a car besides standard maintenance, and this is my first import. Ive helped do a few tranny swaps in jeeps, and a motor in an old chevy bretta. I would really love to tune this car up a bit and am willing to learn. Unfortunately i live in a car nazi state and i drive a manual. Any help would be appreciated just need some kind of product recommendations here.

ya i have searched and i havent found an ems that will run on an auto, besides piggybacks. What do you suggest i search for to what happens when you pair and msd 6 plus up to retard the timing with an apexi VAFC thats wreaking havoc on the manifold absolute pressure sensor , sorry i not smart enough to know who is going to win the war for distributor timing the msd of the ECU being tricked by a piggyback. And i cant really find an answer to the stage one cam question.

Also sorry for using the term NOS but i am planning on buying a Molly Nitrous Oxide Systems, NOS, kit...
The reason for choosing nitrous is simple its a cheap way to get 50hp which is all i want and i will still be able to pass a CA smog test without tearing down my car. No need to buy a 3000 dollar turbo to make 5 psi when im not even sure if i can efficiently have my car tuned since im unwilling to switch to a manual tranny to do an obd1 swap with hondata.

I dont understand why people have to be so rude about things you all had to start somewhere im just trying to find answers my weeks worth of research hasn't turned up any answers on. I just want to give my daily driver a little bit more zip when i need it.

If you are doing that type of engine work, I would suggest you get it tuned to ensure that everything runs smoothly after it's all installed.

Thats the problem im running into though, how do i get it tuned i cant find a standalone EMS that will work with an auto. I would really like to get it tuned just because i know there is alot more hp to be made over the stock ecu.

You're in Cali......there should be a shop at every street corner that could help you out with that, no? :coffee:

I'm sure the SoCal Boys could offer some input, be patient.

Problem is im in a small town 2hrs away from bisimoto which is the only place i would take my accord. No shops are very close to even ask questions. All my friends that are into tuning either drive sti's or early 90s civics for obvious reasons and have no idea about obd2 honda's. There all also into building engines with like 20 psi which is not what i want. Anytime i ask them anything they say your accord and buy a civic :(, i dont want to sell my accord or even try to compete with a gutted 92 civic dx ls/vtec with 18 pounds of boost not my goal here so these guys while knowledgeable are very unhelpfull in my situation.

Just looking for a little more acceleration in my auto accord :), i love the way boost feels.

i've said it once and i'll say it again, our cars are not built for high hp numbers. the engine just doesn't do it.

if you wanna know what ems to run, talk to bisi, i'm sure he'll have an idea since he's one of the more knowledgeable guys in the honda scene
