Engine bay clean.. This normal?

Just finished cleaning engine bay .. Car starts and everything but when I rev.. It almost sounds like choking sound from exhaust???!!!

I tried driving it but then sounded like it was going to stall and engine light kept flashing!!!!!

Now I'm just letting car
Run a bit ?? This normal!!????

Did you cover your distributor/alternator/fusebox/battery terminals when doing such cleaning?
Did you spray the engine with the car on? off? hott? cold?


Seems like you got water in electrical places where water shouldn't be in.

I freaked out .. Everything is fine now!

Water probably either got in to the intake or wet something electrical.

Best to double check next time you give the engine a cleaning.

All clean ! Now just have to wait and see where oil leaks out !!

Why not put some fluorescent dye in the oil and find out the leak with a black light.

Happened to me once when I cleaned the customers car. I covered everything, and started the car and let it run for 10 min and it was fine. After owner came to pick it up, he drove for 10 mins and car started chocking. It turned out the water got into one of the spark plug wholes as the the rubber piece probably wasn't sealed good enough. We dried it (with air compressor) and it was fine.

Pull the spark plug wires just to make sure everything is dry there.

hey man. for future reference flashing check engine light means severe missfire. do not run your engine when u see that.
