Hi Guys,

i swapped a JDM F23A1 motor with Auto tranny in my 96 accord, from day one it doesnt run smooth, however, no codes no CEL. most recently a mechanic advised me to change the ECU and observe the drive. I temporarily swapped a ECU, a used one from junk yard, the car starts, sounds and runs smoothly but giving jerks in gear shifting occasionally especially in reverse and sometime in downshifting. the ECU mode comes with the engine in my car is 37820-PCG-901, when checked online the Ebay site shows same valid ECU for F23A1 engine. The one i have replaced part # is 37820-PEA-900, Ebay has also similar F23A1 ECU for sale. however, another two site mentioned 37820-PAA-A54.

Further research turns out that the 2nd part # relates to engine type, and 3rd part # i.e. A54 gives details about country(1st letter), 2nd letter gives details about transmission, 0 manual and 5 for Auto. it is also mentioned at some sites that 900 is JDM ECU with auto trany?

my question is, are there different ECU's for same engine? are those pin-2-pin compatible? mine 3rd part no is 900, is it a manual ECU

guide me about ECU's which fits in my car as this accord is driving me crazy now:frown

Also check with RussianRed and Jordan_H, they both have 5thgen Accords so they might have some helpful input.

I was going to swap my f23a into my 94 accord, but people told me an issue is trying to get it to run correctly since the intake manifold on the f23 is a big change from what I've heard. I could not really find an information regarding that swap into a 5th gen, let alone an obd2. I thought about using a jumper harness with a p28 that has an f23 basemap but that idea doesn't do you much good. If you're on Facebook try asking questions in the accord addicts group.
