handbrake makes a grunting sound when it is lifted up at the half way point, it also gets harder to lift while it's at that particular spot. Sometimes it doesnt feel like its engaging. Rotors and pads looks like it could use a replacement, but I'm not sure if the handbrake issue has anything to do with this. Help please?

that grunting sound is the ebrake engaging, but lightly....the car may slightly, and by slightly i mean like a couple cm's, move forward. and it should get harder to pull up the further you go up.

I know what you're talking about but the sound isn't coming from the brakes. It's coming from something near the handbrake.

well under your center console is where the e-brake splits off into two lines one for each rear brake... pop your console off and check to make sure everything is moving without issues
