Whats good fellas,

Looking to pick up a second car for commuting and was always a fan of accords. My brother had two 5th gens a while back that I worked on. The last one had a bar'd h22 with a oddy/prelude 5 lug swap.

In the market for a 6th gen and want some input on what to look for and what to avoid.

I am aware of the v6 auto tranny issue but does this apply to the v6 manual as well? How about the I4 trannys? Will be checking for excessive roughness in shifts but if there anyone obvious year/models to avoid?

My friend had a f23 non vtec 6th gen that had <60k that burned a **** ton of oil. common problem?

I currently have a set of 6th gen power leathers in my tacoma and love them so im leaning towards the leather. How roomy is the coupe's back seats? can I fix passengers comfortably? Can I **** in the back seat?

Ideal car would be ulev i4 manual coupe/sedan. I'd consider the v6 only if the manual tranny is not prone to issues.

Thanks

No v6 with 6 speed 6th gen accords were made stock from factory so u would have to do a swap if thats what u like. From what I hear the i4 auto's r bad like the v6 auto's but the manual's r solid. My buddy has a 01 black v6 coupe and the back seats r not that bad. U can still have fun in da back seats so don't trip abt that ;)

Here is the FAQs of 6gen V6 tranny from other site (V6P):

"-----------------------------------
Which Accords does it affect and what has Honda done so far to fix the situation?
1998 and 1999 models have no extended warranty
2000 and 2001 models get an extended warranty on it(7yrs/100,000mi)
2002 models have the bearing problem for the transmissions fixed, which supposedly fixes the tranny problem and thus are exempt from the extended warranty

Even though your model may not be covered by the extended warranty, it's possible that Honda can pay for all or a fraction of the cost....
-----------------------------------"

No wounder craigs was dry on manual v6 models. I was beginning to think everyone was holding on to them. I would definitely do a 6 spd swap if I found a good deal on a tranny dead car but sourcing the 6 spd tranny and parts seems kinda iffy.

Well, I have had both the 4yl (totaled sadly) and am currently driving a 6 cyl. I can say that if you had the funds do a v6 with a swap. The 4cyl is ok for just around town driving, but I wouldn't call it fast by any means. Good luck with your search bro! :omghi2u:

avoid all of them. the best 6th gen is no 6th gen.

Hey there, Angry Bird, they're not that bad........:lawl:

OP, if you are considering a swap, then do your homework.

Good info on v6performance.net and j32a.com.

When a coupe is based off a sedan, you usually end up with good room in the back seat. Such is the case here. This goes for headroom as well.

If you can get your hands on an i4 5spd, not a bad idea. The V6 is nice, but it's a crap shoot as to whether you'll get one that works or doesn't. If I were you I'd look for a 7thgen Accord V6 with a 6MT. Or look at a 2003 Acura CL Type-S w/6MT, it and the V6 6GA are sister cars and are pretty similar. They're just a little hard to find, but keep an eye on Acurazine and/or V6P's FS sections.
