Sketch, what film did you use? I got mine from 3dlens.com (http://www.3dlens.com/shop/polarizer.php the last one) and ended up getting it to work, but it didn't turn out very nice. The part that is supposed to be black is a dark red (I have a red LED) and the number is a light red, plus if I look at it at the wrong angle, like the driver seat or passenger seat (not head on):(, I can't see anything at all. I tried putting more than one layer of film on each side of the lens, but that didn't work either:thinking:

thats kinda wierd, the film that i used was left overs from someone else on here. not sure what kind it is tho.

one layer should do the trick, not really sure what to tell you but maybe try again and to rotate the film against the screen until it is as dark as possible then put it on in that exact position

Ya, more than one layer is only going to make it darker. When you put it on, you need to hold the odometer/clock upright and rotate the piece of film until its the darkest you can get it, and then stick it on. I noticed when I did mine that the odometer had a different rotation than my clock (my clock was perfectly square with the original cuts on the polarizing film, and the odometer was maybe 30 degrees rotation off). You want it to be as dark as possible or it won't work right. :roy:

i was messing aroud with an old lcd here, and found that they already have polarized film on them. If you remove it you can't see the letters at all, and if you flip it over it inverts it. Might be worth trying to remove the factory polarized film.

yes, all LCD's like our clocks/odometers have polarizing film on them already. using the factory stuff wont work because of its size and how badly it ends up being.

thats the same exact film i used. what you have to do....before you take the OEM film off the clock, is take the film you bought and hold it up to the clock until you see it get as dark as it can be, also make sure that when you do this, that youre holding the sticky side of the sheet that you bought facing the clock. you need to make note of it somehow that with the sheet of film that you bought, turned that direction is the way you want it. then once you take the oem film off the clock, you can either trace around the clock screen on the sheet (what i did) or find some other way to get the same shape. then once i cut out my piece of film and stuck it on the clock, i just trimmed around the edges with a razor and trimmed off what needed to come off. dont forget to clean off the glass as best you can, and dont forget to be very gentle with it. and finally, the clock wont be completely black at night, idk why, but thats just the way it is. the numbers on the clock when its unmodified look black, but arent 100%. you can tell in my pic, that mines got a tint of green to it, due to the bulb i had in it. and also, my odometer as well, it looks dark blue instead of fully black. during the day tho it looks black, but you can still see the time and stuff too.

Links no longer work. I'm trying to visualize the benefit of this. Sketch, do you still have any pics of this (7 years later)? lol
