Hi guys

i recently installed a pioneer Deh-11E in my accord. i bought the extra harness so i wouldn't have to cut the factory harness but i noticed it came with 2 extra orange wires. One being illumination/dash and the other one a dimmer wire. With none hooked up i dont have any dash or parking lights but when i hook the illumination/dash wire up with the 12 volt ignition switch they stay on. Would anybody by chance no where the proper place for these wires are?

Thanks!

orange/white to orange/white...disregard the labels and dont use the orange wire at all.

the other wires are simply matching the colors together...

Uh. Did you hook up the acc wire to the power wire on the cig lighter ? I forgot what color it is .. I remember my friend's cig lighter broke and we couldn't find where the break was so we just wired it up to a 12v constant wire and his stays on so he has to manually turn it off every time he leaves the car hahahaha. But yeah, iono what color it is, but there should be one that you tap into your cig lighter. Also, I read somewhere that if you hook up your illu/dimmer wires wrong then your dash lights wont come on. I forgot where I read it, but I guess this is what's happening to you. Can you put up pics of all the wires and how you've connected them ? Along with wiring diagrams if you can :D

yeah, if your lights ONLY work when certain connections are made on the headunit (its an independant system...that is, ive driven months without a headunit in the car), then it sounds like a multiplexor unit.

all the connections are straight behind the headunit...yellow to yellow, red to red, white/gray to white/gray, etc.

the 3 things to worry about:
1. orange/white to orange/white
2. ground the headunit not through the oem harness
3. dont use the orange wire

I'm having this same problem but I'm trying to install a boss bv8962 in dash monitor. the problem lies is that the all Orange wire controls the dash lights, blinker lights etc, but the Orange wire on the harness for the in-dash is labeled for rear view camera. I tried wiring the 2 together and I get nothing.

I found the problem. It was a blown fuse. The one called "license ....." just replace that, and you're golden. I didn't have to use either the orange wire or the orange/white wire. Just wrapped them up separately and made all the other connections and presto, dash lights, blinker lights and radio all functioning properly.
