Not sure where your location is exactly, but mine is grounded:

without any problems. Apparently many other members here have it grounded there also.

thats also where mine is, if you have trouble there then take some sandpaper and sand off the paint around the bolting area just enough to whereas the ground is touching actual metal and no paint.

my ground is actually underneath the seat its very well done actually will take a pic when i can, check all you connections in and out of the box and when tuning make sure the volume is up a considerable amount and make sure the gain on the amp is all the way down and turn it slowly until there is clipping then back it down a bit, also check all settings on the deck that sometimes has effects, also with buying cheep amps like that your not actually getting 1200 watts its probably something closer to 900 watts, ex. my new alpine mrp-m2000, its rated for 2000 watts but its actual test ratting is 2312 watts, just remember like all things you get what you pay for
