What is the big obsession with them? I think they look cool and everything. I just wonder where you people live that need that much light that you cant see with the stocks. I'm not hating on them by any means so dont take it as that. I just dont see the need to spend all that money to do this upgrade. Anyways, thats all. Discuss.

Yeah I agree in a way but I guess it's an update cause most cars come with those oem. I think it's pretty unique seeing retrofits or sometimes just a pnp HID kit on Hondas or other older cars..

I can see fine with my lights at nite. I live in the city though so maybe most of you HID guys live out in the boonies where they dont use street lights.

I live out in the mountain/country side so yeah street lights are few and far between lol..and about 1/2 mile from me the highway starts up a mountain that would put an initial d track to shame.

Same question could be posed for lip kits and rims

I'd have to say its a nice mod, one for better visibility at night and two, it just looks better than the stock yellowish orange color of the headlights, and eventually tends to be cheaper than buying hyper white (hid imitation bulbs) that burn out every 3 months. Plus it gives a subtle but still modified look to your car, and isnt that the reason we're all here?

lol what's wrong with being able to see better at night?

EXACTLY.

I hate this discussion becuase so many people think that even buying an HID kit(boy I hate those too lol I hate a lot of things) is a useless investment. But me having invested over a grand in my retrofit may sound biased but what can I say I hate halogen.

I'll start out here. How can you not like HID kits/retrofits? They give you a better view of the road in all weather conditions. Who doesn't want to be able to see better in the rain storm? How bout fog? I use to have fog lights, but once I got a retrofit, I could see easily in deep dense fog. Also, when in the fog, other motorists will be able to see you better to help avoid an accident. With halogen lights, I could barely see in the fog or rain with my foglights even on

HID vs Halogen
HID projectors put out such a wide beam of light that allows you to see everything on the side of the road. Also makes it alot easier to spot things on the ground that could be harmful to your car (deer, pedestrians, bikes, mudslides ;)). And take that against halogen, it has such a narrow area on the road that it illuminates. I personally find it a disadvantage to have halogen in a non projector form. I feel very unsafe at night when I'm in a car that has them. I dont know why just dont ask.

What can I say? It looks like a $50,000 sports car in the rearview mirrors or other motorists and will make heads turn :jerkit: HIDs bring out a lot of attention on the road so I guess that's always a plus ;) (unless its by the pigs on the road aka coppers :flipoff:)

On the downside of having HIDs in a halogen housing can cause a lot of glare and can actually blind on comming traffic lol So it's always a good idea to aim them down to the point where they are still affective. Blinding other motorists is near impossible with the projector + HID becuase of the cutoff will control where the light goes.

Yeah its a business, but its also a growing thing in tuners and domestics. I figure that you can benefit in all forms of HID bulbs whether it is in projector or halogen form. And thats why there is so much hype over it.

HIDs > Halogens :owned: any day of the week. It's called High Intensity Discharge for a reason look it up.
