I always like Mechman for HO alts. do your research, they have the least amount of fail problems I have seen. Irragi and DC seem to be hit or miss.

and just an fyi Optima's are not good car audio batts, good starter batts though, good car audio batts would be like kinetik and xs power. group 31 ftw.

Just to add on to the info, Mechman H.O. Alternators run $450 for the 150 amp, $550 for the 240 amp. They recommend the 150 for regular daily use. 240 more or less for dB dragging.

Dam thats expensive....I just got quoted $490 for a 300 amp from ExcessiveAmperage.com....I dont know how good they are but its not a bad price compared to the Mechman....

Just because its 300 amps doesn't make it better.

You have to look at the current curve to see what your really getting.

The mechman 150 amp alternator, you get nearly all 150amps at either 1200 or 1500rpm...twice stock. Meaning your consistently getting power, even at idle w/ no idle issues. Its like comparing Kicker to Memphis. Hifonics to Sundown. If you've only had one, you cant tell the difference but I guarantee there's better quality and sound in one.

The mechmans also need a 1.5" longer belt as well to work.

Not saying its better but even if the 300 amP pushed 220amps At idle your still getting triple the amperage for 40bucks mOre...although i do not know the quality of their products...
