Im thinking of getting it done for my CF hood. Sick of hood cracking and the underside getting burned due to heat.

I've thought about taking mine out, but it hasn't been a issue, so why fix it if it ain't broke.

That being said, after the swap is done, I may change my mind and yank it out. More than likely will be the case, because I was considering going the propped hood route.

Would there be any negative side effects of taking it off? I was thinking of taking mine off to clean it up a bit.
Paint the underside of your hood with a rising sun :hide:

I've heard people say that if there is an under-hood fire, the little clips holding the liner on melt at x temperature causing the liner to drop and supposedly smother the fire giving you extra time to get out of the car. I've also heard it's just an urban legend and that stuff isn't really flame retardant at all.
It also an insulator and deadens sound to keep the hood cooler to the touch and keep cabin sound down. You might hear a little more rumble if you take it off.
