I bought mine from www.xenondepot.com in 2002... a true Phillips Ultinon Set....

Damn HIDs are so cheap now...
Phillips doesn't make plug n' play HID kits. The only "kit" Phillips made was the Xenarc's which came with a new headlamp housing. The kits you see there are pieced together. Which means the warranty is NOT through Phillips it's through xenondepot or whoever else is selling "Phillips HID" kits.

It works fine, and you get a warranty too. I know brand names are good to get, but I just couldn't afford that much money for Phillips lol. I did a lot of mods myself just to save money. Man I wish I had a load of money, save myself a knuckle or two.

Ok, I've been thoroughly confused about HID conversions. It says plug-and-play, but don't you need to set up the ballast thing somehow? Particularly, I was referring to the first link provided by MikeyMike. Also, it ocmes with two conversion lights, do you use them for low beams? Would you need another entire kit to do high beams as well? How is this kit going to fit right in and replace my current lights?

I just need someone to do a really good job of explaining what gets hooked up where, etc. Thanks a lot. Excuse my lighting ignorance.

You get two ballasts, which convert energy from your 12V battery to whatever voltage needed to light the HID bulbs. The bulb comes with wires attached to it already, and so does the ballast. The ballast has one open slot though. In that slot, goes the only wire that can fit in the ballast, straight from the bulb. Now the tricky part is, there should be two rectangle looking wires, pos and neg. You need to connect those to the pos and neg outlet of the original headlight. If it ends up being "plug-n-play" like it should, it'll fit right into the two slots. If it doesn't, like for me, you'll have to do some splicing.

In order to not ruin my HID Kit and my factory harness, I just got a wire extension and connecting it to my harness and my HID kit, so that I don't have to completely splice any of the wires. It should be plug n play if your headlights are completely stock. Mines were aftermarket, so I think that may have caused the problem for me.

So everyone that has done an HID conversion is talking about their low-beams? Do people convert their high-beams to HID and leave their low-beams stock?

I would think you would want to convert both (twice the $$$) instead of doing one or the other. Right? Thank for the HID's For Dummies lesson.

^^u use ur high beams like uuhh... 5% of the time? unless if u drive in the mountains every night.... :driving:

cost-benefit analysis.... u use high beams 5% of the time,,, u could have used tht money to mod something tht u use 100% of the time, like an intake or strut bar... ;)

+1 for DarkSideAccord.

I suggest you do what I did. HID Kit for the lower beam, and hyper-yellow bulbs for highbeam. Hyper-yellow looks a million times better and cooler than the stock halogen bulb. The only downside is that if a cop is smart enough he'd be able to tell that your highbeam is on due to the bright yellow. But then again, if you have an HID kit it'll most likely not be yellow, so the cop should be able to tell anyway.

True. True. Although I do a lot of country road driving at night (6 hr ride home from college) it would definitely be better to have low-beams which you use a lot more. thanks for the :slap:.

I guess I'm just not a fan of the yellow tinted lights...idk. But I'm thinking the HID kits are a pretty good mod. Thanks again you guys.

I'll see some good examples of everything at the N.E. meet.:driving:
