she had someone else take it, from what i read of the article i got the impression she's his widow.

NYT and Meet The Press both say the woman on the grave is his mother.

Trying to follow the rules and keep politics/religion/nonsense out, but i thought this was moving as well:

“He was 14 years old at the time of 9/11, and he waited until he could go serve his country, and he gave his life,” Mr. Powell said.

That's true dedication to one's country.
