Yea, so this morning I brought my car in for a routine oil change at 9:30 am. I also got emissions and the 40 point inspection done. Afterwards, I drove to the mall, and while I was in the parking lot, I noticed that my left low beam bulb burned out. How did the 40 point inspection miss that? Also, both headlight bulbs were working just 2 days ago.

I popped the hood and took out the low beam bulb. The filament was still in good shape. So I guess tomorrow, I'm going to try plugging that bulb into one of the high beam harnesses (i did the 9005 conversion for the low beams). If that bulb lights up on the high beam harness, I think I may be in trouble.

Btw, this was my last free oil change covered by autoguard. I'm thinking about buying a pair of jack stands or a ramp for future oil changes. Does anyone know which is better? Also, does it matter if its a wal-mart brand lol

boy, u should smack the technician who did the inspection... as for the walmart brand, i assume u're asking abt the jack stands? jack stands are all the same.. just make sure u get the ones tht can handle the weight... as for floor jacks, u get what u pay for... :)

sears has some nice jacks for the money. got a nice jack for $25 there during the holidays lol, but w/ regular pricing you'll probably spend like $75 on a decent jack.

i just swapped the bulb in question into the high beam harness, didn't work. I put a spare 9006 bulb back in and it works great for now. I noticed that one of the holes in the socket looks burned...i hope this isn't from the conversion.

as for the jack and jackstands, i'll keep looking for them before my next oil change. Then I gotta learn how to use them properly...man...I should've paid attention in auto tech during high school >_<

If you plan to do it yourself get a decent jack or you will be pumping el chepo jacks like those crappy Red Dog ones that takes an hour to get your car an inch off the ground. I've seen decent jacks at Sears for about $70 and at PepBoys for around $80.
