HAHAHA thats sounds like some stuff that i grew up around.... its called part of our daily lives!

:jerkit:

you know, no need to be a jerk about it. some people want more out of life than repeat criminal offenses and being stuck in the same repetitive cycle of crime and drugs use/abuse.

if its part of your daily life, then you arent doing enough to get the best outta it.

ok ladies and gents...

today was a gorgeous 65 degrees, so i reluctantly started on my car. it took a total of 4 hours to get the clutch pedal off, the master cyl out, the clutch line out, and everything prepped to be installed. it then took me 1 hour to put all the new parts back in finger tight, ready for the pedal adjustment, and the lines to be bled...

man

i havent wrenched that hard in at least 2 years... im freakin beat right now. my hands are black with grease, and my face is wet and nasty. however, im 50% through the repair, and most liekly, another 5 hours will be plenty of time to get this all finnished off. i have a feeling i totally destroyed some wiring that was cought on the master cyl, but i guess ill just see where the wires go to, and figure out if i need to worry or not. i know 2 are for my alarm siren, which i no longer have cause it got screwed up, and then another is for the fuel injector signal to my alarm box, which i dont think i need either way. so, all in all, success!

If that is your daily life then I pity you. Why do you feel the need to come in here and laugh at Retroshark's situation? He is a good guy and has been through some hard times, he made bad decisions and now is slowly getting his life back together. What compels you to come and "brag" about how you grew up, and tell him that it is just normal stuff? We dont care how "hard" you are, we dont care what you make, we dont care what you do, and we dont care what your friends drive; we care about how you treat other members here on the forum. Ever since the first day you joined here, you have been blowing your own horn for attention. News flash, NOBODY LIKES IT. We dont care if your friends drive EVO's, SRT-4's and STi's, we dont care if you grew up in a situation similar to Retroshark's, and we dont care if you make X amount per year. You want the honest truth? Nobody believes what you say because you come in here claiming to be "the ****" and not listening to what legitimate members say. Your disrespect has gotten out of hand.
[/RANT]

Back to Retroshark's story, I am so proud of you for getting your life back together, I know that isnt easy. Your car has been one of the cars that I have looked up to for a long time. You have put in a lot of effort to making your car one of the first big turbo build's in a 6th generation Accord and now with your continued work, it continues to be one of the best ones. Keep up the work and again, I am glad you are back on your feet and back here to good old 6GA.

^^ mad props, and thanks for the flattering compliments.

anyways, so, after the 3rd day of wrenching, splicing, cutting and grinding...

I AM DONE!

i dont know in what order i attacked the stuff today, but i started around 2pm. at the point im at now, i got everything clutch related tied down, and fastened to spec. i started to try and flush the clutch line out with fluid, and i got a scare, cause i pumped the pedal a bunch of times, and the fluid wouldnt flow through the master cyl. i was getting ready to have to remove the whole thing and check my connections for clogs, then i realized, I HAVE A VACCUUM PUMP!!

so, i pumped the line, through the slave bleeder nipple, and sure enough, the fluid started to take. after i refilled the reservoir and pumped it all through, i decided to do the old "hose into the clutch fluid bottle" trick. i then just bled the clutch lines like i would, making sure to do it extra slow, and extra forcefully, to get any dirt, debris, or air bubbles through. the first bleed gave for a little pressure, but by the 2nd, the clutch was FIRM. i didnt have a spotter, or someone who could pump the clutch for me while i watched the slave move, so i used my cell phones video function. from what i could tell, it seems to be 100% working fine, and upon comparison with my old slave cyl, i could see that it was indeed maxing out, which means full clutch disengagement.

so, after that little success, i tightened everything up, rechecked everything, and closed the hood, after cleaning up my mess.

as of right now, im about 75% certain the clutch lines are now done, and that the clutch is bled

although, im gonna let it sit for a day or two, then go back out there, and bleed it another 2 times, just to be 100% sure that there are no air bubbles trapped in the lines, and to make sure im getting 100% pedal pressure.

it sure as hell is a stiff pedal to push on, but i can feel the disengagement point a lot better now, then when the master cyl was fubard. im really REALLY excited to get her up and running, although, my guess is it wont be til next week, since i dont have another car to jump the battery with, plus, i need to add more oil to the engine, i need to clean a few more things up, check a little wiring, redo my gauges and rewire my battery grounds, and do a little tidying up inside. LOL

lots of work left, but the hard mechanical part is over!! im really happy that i ran into very few problems on this project. im really lookin forward to getting her up and running daily again, especially with the warm weather comming, and the fact ill actually be able to use my AC in the summer, without the extra heat causing the clutch to slip. now, i just gotta find an emissions shop to get me legal, and im good to go.

oh, and my carbon fiber gas door was cracked and nasty when i looked at it. seems the crappy resin was... crappy. so i sanded it down, re polished it, and gave it about 6 coats of spray on gloss enamel, and it looks very nice indeed. not perfect, but FAR better than it was.

im thinking about doin a few more little bits and pieces while i have her parked. most likely, ill check the suspension, and try and lower the front end some more, so long as im not gonna rub. i may repaint the calipers, since they are hella nasty. in which case, ill get out my sandpaper and sand them down to a more polished look, before coating them with some high temp enamel, just so they look nice. as far as anything else goes, id really love to have a go at possibly painting my engine bay, although, with all the crap in there, i dont like the idea of having to remove all that, but, we shall see what i feel motivated to do LOL.

but either way, all ended up being a very successful day, and a brilliant 3 days of wrenching. i missed workin under the hood, and its great to be back doing stuff again. now i gotta see what old parts i have layin around that i can put to use....

right now, i can already see im gonna need a new air filter, and this time, i think im gonna add on some extra IC piping to the compressor side, so that i can possibly run the filter to either the bumper, where a typical CAI would be, or maybe to somewhere that is just avoiding my dump tube. but, again, well see what i can come up with ;)
