I have TYC Projectors and the high-beam dish has holes in it for "city lights" so I bought the light bulb and bulb socket for installing it and it looks good IMO.

So what I want to do is splice them into the parking lights. I'm not sure if this is smart or not because I'm not too knowledgeable about a car's electrical system and I've grown up with repeated warnings never to mess with the car's electrical because my dad shorted a wire in his car one time and could never get it fixed.

So my question:
Is it safe to splice the bulb into the parking lights. Will it short any wires? Break any fuses? Murder my car?

Thanks for your help in advance!

So with the help of 98ExAccordwv, I gained the balls to do this.

Materials:
Sylvania Bulb 194 - Pep Boys
194 Bulb Socket - Pep Boys
Quick Splices/Wire Taps/Quick Connectors for 18-14 gauge wire - Radio Shack

Obviously this is for TYC Projector Headlights only.

First, I assembled the bulb into the bulb socket and pulled back the boot over the High-Beam reflector and with nimble fingers, squeezed the bulb in there. It feels like it kinda snaps into place as if it was meant to be there.

Locate the wire for the auxiliary parking light (the parking light that doesn't blink as a turn signal in between the projector and turn signal light.) Use the wire splice to tap into each wire (red positive and black negative) and you're done and it will look like this...

Hope it helps anyone who's interested in doing it.

^+1

Just make sure when you're working with wiring that you disconnect the battery, and avoid crossing + and - wires.

Re: Need Advice on Wiring City Lights

oh you mean like DRL lights?? you should possible hook it up directly off the battery or some switch that turns on when the car turns on... im pretty sure that you can buy a Daytime Running lights (DRL BOX) that should hook up directly into the lighting system. Find one from a 05+ accord ex because they use almost the exact same wiring diagram as the 6th gen

Re: Need Advice on Wiring City Lights

Nooo not DRL lights they call them city lights I found this picture of them on an Audi.

They have them on basically all Mercs, Audis, Infinitis, and VWs.

The circled light is the city light and the bulb right above it is the high beam.

good job...but you might want to resize those pics....they are rather big

something like 800 pixels or less is usually good...

if you don't know how...google search "how to resize photos"
