Well I'd figure if you want to 18+ inch rims at 8.5 wide..maybe even 17" you would need to space the wheel out off of the hub so you don't rub when you turn? my 18x7.5's are pretty close

Well it's not hopeless..there are plenty of rims out there with a decent lip that will work on the accord. If anything take it to a wheel/tire shop and have them measure up what would be the best rim/offset/width/diameter with the largest lip that doesn't require you to have fender flares..then go on a hunt for that rim..or if your really hard up for it call a company of a rim you like and see what they can do for you.

just roll the inner fenders guys... my friends with M3s used to do this all the time to fit in 8.5" and 9" wide rims into their cars.... u won't believe how much space there is after rolling the fenders... the ghetto way of doing this is putting ur car on jackstands.... using a baseball bat, put the end of the bat into the fender and the middle of the bat onto the tire... after tht, just press down on the bat.... repeat until u have enough clearance in the fender :D

Yup. And I would never run HRE's on a car cause they are kinda on the heavy side. Now iForge is something else.
