I'm throwing p300 codes every other day, and a p1339.

Pretty sure it's the ignition coils, car seems to be running rich, the exhaust is stankin'.

Could be partially because of the cat or o2 sensor but I'm assuming that would be provoked by the misfires anyway.

To the point.. I want to test it by swapping working coils before I drop $300.
And I'm wondering if I could steal them from my dads J37..

Usually only one goes bad. Do a power balance test. Unplug one coil at a time with the engine idling, if the engine doesn't die-down the coil is bad.

Advance Auto Parts carries BWD coils fairly cheap with a lifetime warranty. Seem to work fine, I had to replace an OEM few months back. I was getting all sorts of P030x codes and only one coil was bad. The ECM seems to have trouble distinguishing which cylinder is missing.

I'm not quite there yet, they seem to be failing intermittently, especially when starting cold.
So I can't really test it with that method, as they seem spontaneous.

The one over cylinder 5 failed back in February, but that's the only new ignition coil.

Spray them with water, if there is a crack in one it may happen cold due to condensation.
