jvc kd g800 stereo "flickering" Randomly

I have the jvc kd g800 installed in my 98 accord ex... and just curious as to why not all the time but randomly the screen flickers...what i mean but this is it dims then is bright back and forth etc...then sometimes even the letter get all messed up to the point they look like hieroglyphics lol the quick fix for these symptoms is i detach then reattach the unit usually it works sometimes i just need to wait then it fixes itself....another weird thing is when the stereo flickers usually the buttons lose there original functions and get assigned randomly throughout the unit so again to reset this i need to detach and reattach the unit to fix.. so any suggestions on how to fix or any reason why this is happening...thanks!

since detaching and reattaching seems to fix it I would suspect a loose/broken solder connection in the faceplate or head unit connector where they mate. Take it apart, inspect the connection to the PCB carefully, reflow any solder joints that look cracked/suspect.
