Dude, if you don't know what you're doing. You may do more harm than good, take it back to the mechanic, that's the best advice I can give you at the moment.

if you had the tranny work done at a shop, and they gave you back a car that doesnt work properly, take it back and have them fix it. if they wont help you, then consider having a go yourself
