Ok, so I finally got off of my *** and decided to at least put the front bumper on today while I had some spare time. Everything was going smooth until I realized I forgot a few clips when I ordered them from TASauto. So I had to put the headlamps back on and head into the Honda dealership (note: I'm 40 miles from them). I get there and head straight to the parts counter. I explain to the guy what I need, he looks dumbfounded like he didn't understand a word I had just spoken and then proceeds to pull up the diagrams on the computer. Once he has them up he stares at the computer screen for a good 2-3 minutes then prints out the diagrams. Now we all know how unhelpful some of these diagrams can be especially for bolts, clips & etc. I look over the diagram and tell him "I see a bunch of clips, but I'm not sure exactly which ones I need and how many?" He looks over at me and says "Well I have no idea, everything I know is what's in front of me on the computer" so I asked him "Well, does it say how many of each clip is required?" since I recall last time I went in another parts tech was able to tell me the X amount of clips, bolts etc that is required. He tells me "No" and I proceed to tell him that another tech was able to tell me (this is when it gets interesting) he replies with "Well I'm not that tech, so I don't know what to tell you." I look up at him and say "Excuse me?" he looks back with this blank stare and them picks up the phone that just rang. I say "Well, you weren't really any help at all, but I guess thanks for half-*** trying." He puts his hand over the phone and says "well, uh what looks like the clips you need? just guess how many you think you would need you can always bring the extras back for a refund." I say "That's not the point, there is no sense in paying for extra parts that I won't need plus I'm 40 miles away from you, are you going to pay my gas?" he puts the caller on hold and says "Well nothing more I can do for you then" I said "Yes, there is. Can you get me someone who will know what I need because obviously your clueless." he says "Sure, I'll call someone up from the body shop." So he gets on the phone and calls some "Todd" guy from the body shop. He comes up to the parts counter, I explain what I need and in literally 30 seconds he points out exactly which clips and how many I will need. So the parts counter guy gets me my clips and tell me to pay at the cashier's window. So I walk over there, she prints out my invoice and tells me "That will be $52.50 sir." I about choke on my tongue and say "What the hell do you mean $52.50?? I got 5 stinking clips in my hand!" she says "Yes, I have them down, but also you are being charged time for body shop work it says." I'm like "Body shop work??? Where the hell are you getting this from??" right after I said that the parts counter guy said "Well, You did get advice from a body man and his hourly rate is $45 an hour, 1 hour minimum.".....I stood there for about a minute trying to comprehend what was just said to me. Then I say "Your charging me, for that guy to walk 25 feet and open his mouth for 30 seconds to tell me which clips I need and how many??" the cashier lady says "Well, sir you did request some of his time" I turned around and looked at her, slammed $8 onto the counter and said "Either take what I owe for the clips or take the damn things back because I am not paying $45." She got onto the phone and asked for a manager to to come to the cashier's desk. About 5 minutes later the manager pops up and starts asking if there is a problem. I explain what happened and that they are trying to charge me $45 for 30 seconds of them mans time. The manager apologized to me, offered me a free Honda key chain which I turned down and proceeded to tell him to save it for the parts counter guys severance package since he should be fired. In the end I guess I won because I walked out with the clips I needed for absolutely free, and when I looked back the parts counter guy was talking to the manager. They were going over some paper work & signing it. My guess would be a written warning or something along them lines.

alright, that had to be one of the more entertaining stories ive read in a while. you know the parts guy tried charging you the money because both the body guy and you made him look like a moron. Boy am I glad i dont have to deal with that crap, im good friends with the asst. parts manager at the honda dealership around the corner. I got my mirror replaced for cost of parts plus a 6 pack :D
