Does anyone here have any experience w/ Megan Coilovers?

I was reading a WRX forum, and they seemed to love them. I want to do a mild drop on my '98 coupe, but don't want to give up the 2" of ground clearance come winter and the Wisconsin snow drifts. One of the reasons I am leaning to these Megan's is the 'pillow ball' top mounts that can supposedly adjust for camber, and they also have 32 settings for the level of damping.

$900 shipped. Seems like a lot o' dough, but I was looking at Bilsteins w H&R springs, and this is in that ball park w/ a whole lot more adjustability.

The ride is my main concern, and their durability.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hmm, I'm not sure if I would go that route. A lot of people have bought other megan products and liked them, but megan's stuff is usually cheaper than the "big brands" too, which is a big part of its appeal.

@ $900 though, you'd be spending a good bit more than if you bought omnis, teins (basics/ss), apexi, etc etc

be like it is
omg another person from wisconsin :lolrun:

i just clicked the link...its got 14k front rates  way to stiff for WI. for our roads, i would say the MAX you want is around 10k front/5k rear. personally, im aiming for a set with 7 or 8k on the front but will still be able to slam. so far, AMR Engineering is the only place that will make you a custom set and they do (amazingly) make coilovers for our cars.

i dont know of anyone with megans except for kleptodatheif on v6p LOL...

i had the coilover sleeves on different shocks, and they were horrible, good handling, but they ended up breaking. BUT the reason i had got them was because i had only read good things about these megan full coilovers. alot of people liked em. i mainly lowered my car for handling, so i didnt care about the ride, thats why i liked the stiffer spring rate.

You'll have to 'splain that emoticon.... talk-punch... ?

I'm not done researching the coilovers Wildman suggested, but so far everything I've seen w/ adjustable pillow-ball top mounts is more than $900.

My thinking is either I need a camber kit, or the ability to adjust the coilovers for camber, since twice a year the drop will change by ~2". If I was just going to drop it and leave it, I'd just go w/ struts and springs.

Adjusting coilovers for camber? Well, i have a lot of 240sx friends who are running Megans and they seem to like them a lot. Also another friend who owns a 2.5rs is also running this set up and they all seem to like them a lot. They seem to have been built with quality and you do have the ability to adjust the dampener rate to your choice. On one of the cars i drove was set at 18f and 20 r and it felt very smooth but i did also drive the 2.5rs and he set them at 3 clicks in front and 6 in the rear and that was pretty stiff. They definitely didn't feel as high as 14k spring rate but more as a 10-12k as the clicks went lower. If i were you, i would go ahead and just pick them up since they are a good coil over but it is all in what you like. I wouldn't get the Tein Basics but if you were get Tein i would suggest the SS since you have the ability to adjust.

Thanks for all the feedback, and comments everybody. The Megans still seem like a good set-up. But it's still not easy to plunk down $900.
