Alright, so here's the deal. I am planning to get a full exhaust system (headers to muffler).

So I have a few questions,

*Would there be any performance difference between brand name and generic exhaust systems?
*What's the difference between getting 2.25 piping compared to 2.5 piping?
*And if anyone has any experience with ebay generic headers and exhaust systems, can anyone tell me if they are worth the money?

If I do get an ebay exhaust system I am planing to cut off the cheap muffler and get a magnaflow muffler and weld it on.

I didnt want to spend money having a shop fabricate piping for my exhaust so I just bought an ebay exhaust and just like what you said "slap on a muffler". I saw few gains and im running a DC sport header to a oem cat, then exhaust. *really loud for some people especially being the muffler's inlet is 4'' and the silencer rattles.

I bought this:

If your going to get a catback/header do it the right way the first time. Don't cheap out and get some ebay stuff because those aren't really going to give you much performance. In fact, over time I wouldn't be surprised if those caused leaks as well. With piping, it all depends on what material you use and how many resonators you want. Most premade catback systems come with 1 resonator and stainless steel piping. However, sometimes it's cheaper if you get a custom job done at a muffler shop. You can also add how many resonators and how big or small piping you want depending on what type of sound you want from your car.

There are hardly any gains unless u tune. The stock exhaust is plenty on this car.

Yes and no. But cat backs does not really yield that big of a difference in performance brand to brand. Just volume, tone, build quality, and aesthetics.

This has always been a huge debate, between 2.25 and 2.5. No one will ever agree on what really yields to most performance. Ultimately I personally believe the more free flowing your system is, the more power you can gain. I also hate spending money twice, so if you're planning on doing some major mods to your system, get 2.5" or greater, so if you plan to go boost, you won't have to swap your system AGAIN.

Generic Ebay headers and be a total headache. The headers has to be precise in terms of fitment, otherwise it will not bolt up correctly. The joints also needs to be precision welded and durable, or you will have leaks down the line.

Their systems also may or may not have the same issues.

i did generic headers on civics but not accords and they did what they're suppose to..

i had a civic with a tsudo catback(got it free) and i cut the muffler and welded on a apexi i had and the sound was good, not at all raspy...

like i said this is with a civic so im not sure how the accord would react, maybe the same...

I have this combo on my car: DC Sports 4-2-1 Ceramic header --> Magnaflow Cat. Converter (OEM messed up) --> Apexi WS2 Catback. It sounds very good, as for performance...I think it's just all in my head.

- magnaflow performance

Available in varous diameters including 2.25", 2.5" and 3" and backed MagnaFlow's Lifetime Warranty, there's no reason to go any other route. Be sure to include a set of polished MagnaFlow performance mufflers to finish that truly one-off exhaust system.

I have been researching this on the magnaflow site and can't seem to find any sound clips. Anyone got a link to one.
