Glad your gf was alright. And glad that town is on the up and up. What do you want to do there for a job?

That hospital that everyone keeps hearing about and a massive number of houses are really all that's gone now. They've since rebuilt most of the big-name stores and restaurants.

Amazing that they got things fixed up so quickly there and yet NO is STILL not back to normal yet.

Ive got a few jobs lined up. Parts department, Entry Level Tech Support(gf's job), factory job. Ive got a few places. Ive even found a forum for southern Missouri tuners, lol. Not much of a scene but there's a few people, lol.

Yeah, I read an article the other day that said between insurance and FEMA, the town is pretty much gonna break even. Can't underestimate small towns in the midwest. We know how to do work, lol.

At least there are some options for you.

Is Type GF doing the same position that you would be doing?

Cost of living is decent down there and would it be a long term move for you?

She and I would probably be doing different things. It just depends on training and how well I pick it up. I can be a people person, although I dont like to be. It'd still be the same building and hours so we could commute together and save gas.

Cost of living is pretty cheap there. About the same as it is here. Midwest seems to be the one of, if not THE, cheapest parts of the country.

We've been looking at apartments and houses (mainly houses) and we've found luxury 2bed apts for $800/mo but for the same price or slightly less, we could get a 2-3bed house with a garage and yard.

It'll be as permanent as it has to be. I miss KC and she wants to live there, so once we're both financially sound and able, we'll look into a move there. I forsee myself living in Joplin for at least a year. Maybe two.

Work that out, because if you are paying rent, makes sense to get the most for the money.

We both prefer a house. We dont want kids and crazy neighbors, she wants a yard and I want a garage. So a house is the more probable choice.

As for renting or owning....ugh. Owning a home wont come for some time. Even then, I'm really on the fence about it. After seeing Chris and some other friends talk about owning their homes, it excites me. But the idea of renting is so appealing. Ive been told by those who buy how happy they are. Ive been told by financial professionals to rent, lol.

If you're only going to be there for a couple years, I'd live as simply as you can and save for the KC nest egg. lol But really, with the way the housing market is going, you don't want to have to try to sell a house in two years. Doesn't mean you can't rent a house or townhome though.

We'll definitely be renting for the next few years. Im talking about in 5+ years. The housing market wont be as low as it is now, so houses wont be as cheap. Probably still reaonably cheap but nonetheless. Owning means it's your but there's taxes and upkeep. not to mention, depending on the neighborhood, they have potential to lose worth over the years.

All growing up we've always rented and we've always lived in nice houses in great neighborhoods.

I'd like at least a 1-car but Im really looking for a 2-car.
