i got mildew or some black stains inside the weather stripping area of the my trunk and hood. on the weather stripping itself on the hood piece or trunk piece, but on the part where they sit. so, if you open my trunk, you see the black mildew growing on the outlines of the trunk where the water goes down when it rains. same thing in the hood but not as much.

what can i use to clean it? can i use typical mildew removing Tilex or will that harm the paint? because regular car wash isn't cutting it, or at least not without vigourous scrubbing. and what can i do to prevent the mildew from growing? do i need new weatherstripping?

I have the same problem my car is from Florida and i was told its from sitting and the water that gets in there. I just took paint and painted over all of it I dont think there is much you can do to clean it.
