I can only get that high on 100% freeway driving but i have a system. Nothing done to lighten up the car, just have added 50+lbs probably. I also only have 32k miles on my car though.

I am running just about 100% stock, although I haven't gotten what I used to in mileage. Now I'm 450-480 tops. When my car was younger, I could get over 500 no prob (with the gas light on) but since my gas light doesn't come on anymore, I don't push it anymore either... 520+ was my best yet, 100% highway, (and I don't think an stops, either.)

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but over the last 4 weeks or so, i've seen my gas mileage drop from around 27-28 MPG (city and highway) to 21-22 MPG (same thing)

I've had the car for a little over 2 months, and i've changed the oil, oil filter, and air filter. I'll be checking the plugs in a couple days, but does anyone else have any suggestions? any reason i'd see a decline this quickly? (admittedly, i might be doing more city than i used to, but i shouldn't see THAT much of a difference, should i?)

I get 27-29 in pure traffic everyday. Check your plugs, 02 sensors, and tire pressure. Also look under your car to make sure you aren't dragging 2 and a half families of racoons.

Do you live in the north? Cold weather will wreak havock, not to mention the change in gasoline to some that doesn't freeze always hurts mine...

Jeffro - i live in Chicago. it's gotten cold, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyway, i checked my plugs - huge gaps. hadn't been replaced in ages (not fouled though) so i stuck a set of Bosch platinums in and ran a third of a can of seafoam through the brake-assist vacuum tube (producing wondrous clouds of white exhaust for the next 4 miles) and another third of a can into the gas.

I then drove about 160 miles at highway speed and STILL got about 21-22 miles per gallon. I also reset my ECU by pulling the fuse for about 15 minutes. what else could be causing my gas mileage to be so crappy? is there any way i can check my O2 sensor?

thanks!
