it can also be your tranny fluid...if its black thas not good. your clutch reservoir is right next to your brakes the little one...if not than its your clutch

like i said...how many miles on the car....has the clutch ever been replaced....if not by u....if so if ever by a previous owner.....and the clutch reservoir should look like ur brake fluid reservoir..as a matter of fact...you pour in brake fluid anyways if its almost empty in the clutch fluid reservoir....check these little things first...before u start assuming its ur tranny.....its a lot cheaper too

if it gets stuck in say reverse...i have to move backwards a little to line up the gears and it pops out again. same goes for first gear. the clutch was replaced about a year ago...the previous owner learned how to drive stick on this tranny then replaced the clutch...i also learned how to drive stick on this tranny and clutch. i have yet to replace it.

Every manual car I've ever driven can have a hard time going into 1st or reverse. You have to rev a tad or roll a bit and it pops right in. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 1st and reverse do not have syncros.
