Damn. That's crazy. Head on collision too? :ugh:

Glad you're okay. And I bet you check your lugs for the rest of your life too..... lesson for everyone.

Not torqued enough or too much?

It could've been worse. At least you weren't on the freeway when it happened! Be thankful for that.

Did you have someone put on your lug nuts? It can be possible to cross thread the lug nuts and have it tighten pre-mature, even though the wheel is still not tight. The lug nuts should also be cross tightened.

Glad your okay though.

Did you not here any kind of rattling noise before this happened?

That sucks, but it is totally your fault for not maintaining your car.
Like if let your pads wear down to nothing and you rear end someone as a result, should the insurance company really pay for that? I don't think so.

You're pretty lucky no one got hurt because you could be liable in that type of situation.

:coffee: i did hear it rattling but could not pull over because if you see the pic there was no place to pull over. my thing is that if your pads wear down and you know it, its your fault but how do you compare that to the fact i felt the lugs were tight and when i heard that something was wrong: do i stop in the middle of the road where i would not be able to do anything to the car for safety reason or just ride it to the nearest area you can pullover to see what it is? but its cool. plus for what you didnt know 10 min after my situation there was a 6 car pile up after because my car was on the right lane and not all drivers pay attention to other cars with emergency lights on which made me feel good i didnt just step out the car on a open road to check my car cause it could have been worse :coffee:
thanks for your concern though :)

I've stopped in the middle of an interstate just to catch a side cover that flew off my bike before, I'd sure stop my car anywhere if I thought the wheel was gonna come off and cause more damage to someone.

I wouldn't rule out sabotage though if you pissed someone off

holy ****...

its good the wheel didn't hit a pedestrian :S

you should look into it a bit closer theres gotta be some kinda explanation there

in all fairness guys he did hear a noise and he was gonna check it out as soon as he pulled into somewhere, im sure if he thought his WHEEL was gonna fly off he woulda stopped right there... probably figured its something a lot less drastic
