need a laptop...suggestions?

so, a lot of my computer programs i need for class only run on windows. last july i bought a 24" imac :). so, i am in a jam. i need something to run these programs on. i don't want to spend a lot. less than 500 would be awesome. i was looking on dell. they have the inspiron mini for 350. i was also looking at used computers on ebay. does anyone have any sugguestions?

Buy windows xp or vista and run it on your mac with vista. I've done it on my Macbook Pro and it work flawlessly, I just don't have the disk space for it.

actually... better idea... pirate vista and then you don't have to spend anything on it!

get a dell or mac. don't get toshiba, hp, or anything else lol

i prefer mac over all :thumbsup:

anything from lenovo/ibm! i got the R61i and i like it! they arent that expensive either...

dell laptops are good too.

If you get a Dell, reformat it/remove Dell's programs at the instant you bring it home. It'll run smoother without their crap, which doesn't help out unless you have never touched a computer in your life.


Try TigerDirect.com for their laptops. They have good cheap ones, as it's basically a wholesale warehouse on computers. I love visiting the Tiger Direct store.

ya know...i would recommend something like the:

MSI Wind
Asus Eee
Acer Aspire One
Dell Mini something something

if all you need it is for class. should look into those. 300-500 dollar ultra-portables built for light computing. i personally think that those things are going to fly off the shelves pretty soon...
