Hey everybody! For those that have seen my "Members Ride" thread you know I have a dent in my hood that has got to go. I have considered banging it out but have not thought much into it in regards to that. I am currently browsing the interwebs to try and find a new hood. All of them I'm finding seem to be carbon fiber. I DO NOT want a carbon fiber hood. But does anyone have any experience with plastidipping their hoods? And if I could even find the right color of plastidip for my car

I can't see your dent, but really, a small hammer then a bit of bondo, so the whole thing will need painted. Maybe you can find a used one of the correct color at car-part.com

yup, looks like it. Small hammer, then some bondo. So ya got paint, bodyshop guestimate:

pound/bondo: 1hr
sand/prime: 1hr
paint: 1hr
parts...

So you're lookin at a $350 repair, see what you can find used, because I do not see a benefit to road cars with carbon-fiber hoods.

I looked on that "car-part" site and a few places near me had a hood for cheaper than $350 so I'm going to call Monday and make sure it's the right colour.

I think there was someone on here selling a hood. but if its not near you, that might be out. I good place would be a junkyard, just make sure you know which ones are compatible. as far as plastidip goes, are you wanting a two tone or something? I would not try to match your paint color, meaning i would not lay down a base coat and then a paint matched paint. It would just be a waste of money. it would be much better to get it re painted

spacemonkee23 had a similar dent on his hood (similar location, too) and he fixed it by himself. You should check out his ride thread to see what he did.
