make sure they grounded the motor mount closest to the timing belt. There should be a ground wire going to the chassis. You can try resetting your battery or getting the code read somewhere. The maintenance light can be turned off by holding the button down while the ignition is on but the car is not running. (I THINK) I forgot about that one..

Your Maintence light is on B/C it has not been reset in the last 5K+ miles. I dunno if there is a thread on it so this is how to reset it. 1) Key in ignition 2) Hold in odo trip button 3) while holding down button turn key to stage 1 DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON!! 4) Keep button down turn key to stage 2 5) Hold the button down for 10 seconds. (do not turn to stage 3 for turn-over) The Maintence light will flash on step 3 then it will remain illuminated solid for the entire ten seconds in step 4,5. If you release the trip button you will have to start all over again. It will go out when it is done, just do this whenever the oil is changed, the people who do your oil are probably too lazy to do it themselves.

As for the check engine light go to pepboys, advance auto, OReily, etc. They should pull the code for free, maybe even tell you what it means; but you should double check with the list of codes on the site here somewhere.
FAQ I think is where it is. :dunno:

Hope this helps

Post up the code though... Pxxxx format.

The guys at parts stores don't know ****, so I wouldn't listen to what they say until someone on here agrees with it.

I'm putting money on a P0420.... since you didn't mention any syptoms of a more serious code.

i ran my gf's car today and that was the code i got.
turns out i have to get the catalytic converter replaced because it is clogged.

so its either the catalytic converter can't pass the test or one of the o2 sensor is going out.

Also putting money down that it's the cat and not the O2 sensor. I have the same code, I think my cat finally went out after having the code for 8 or 9 years now.

Drive the car around for a while to fully ignite the cat, smell and feel the exhaust. Unburnt fuel smell and low flow point to the cat.
