Hey guys,

Unfortunately this past Sunday was very icy and I ended up hitting a telephone pole. Luckily, I wasn't going very fast and the car seems fixable.

I hit the pole on the right side bumper. The car is drivable as of current and I don't think any front end alignment damage was done.

I plan on ordering a new bumper, fender, light housing, right upper light beam, etc. to fix the car.

The only thing that I am unsure of is this box type thing made of plastic that looks to be some sort of airbox. The thing is, it is located slightly behind the passenger side bumper down below. Does anyone have a name for this?

EDIT: After some research it seems to be the resonator chamber. I will post pictures tomorrow so that we can clarify that is indeed the part.

I will try to upload pictures of the damage tomorrow.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think what you're referring to is the intake resonator. it's essentially useless haha.

Very useless, i once had a rat die in there (dont ask) and it was such a ***** to get it out without prying open the box but essentially all it does it take up space behind the bumper

Thanks for the reassurance that I will not need the intake resonator! I appreciate the help. Here are some images of what I'm dealing with.

As far as the car goes I was able to get a bumper off Ebay for a decent price, a fender and headlight housing at the junkyard for cheap, as well as the upper light beam (holds the bumper in place) on Ebay as well. I am close to having all the parts needed I am just waiting on shipping.

As you can see in the other two pictures where the resonator used to sit I have some tubing and housing. Should that be removed so that I just have my air box sucking in air from the hole below? Do I need to install some tubing off of it as well as install a screen or something?

Also, half of my wheel well plastic guard is missing (more towards the front) so the area directly behind the bumper won't be protected from below. Is this really going to be a problem or should I be ok without it.

Thanks for the help,

You never want to have an air intake duct open to the elements, there has to be a filter of some kind or it will suck junk into your IM. Most people who keep the OEM air box setup just remove the resonator. If the damage goes beyond that, you might need some replacement parts for your OEM assembly (the parts that got broken). Or you take it all out and switch to an SRI/CAI.

Fender liner is ideal, but not crucial. I'd focus on getting the car drivable again, and worry about the fender liner later. I would replace it though, personally.

Also get a new headlight bracket since they are kinda necessary. Also since you got hit in the front id just double check the radiator and hoses. Stuff like that
