Right now I have a Nikon D60 (had for only 10 months), and it's small and fun and all, but I've been really looking to upgrade to something with a lot more AF points and lens AF compatibilities yet similar to the D60 in controls.

My two options are:

Nikon D90
Nikon D5000 (new)

Once the D5000 comes out, do you guys think the D90 will lower significantly in price? I only would want the body of the camera, and right now the body of the D90 is selling for $900 and the body of the D5000 is selling (pre-order) for $750+. What I'm hoping is that the D90 body-only price will fall to around the $600 range, but is that even in the realm of possibilities?

BTW, I'd prob be willing to sell the D60 body and some accessories once I can afford the more professional camera if anyone would be interested. Shoot me offers if you would be! Thanks. (It has never been dropped nor been in the rain and is in immaculate condition since it's so young.)

Doubt the price will fall, the 40D only fell to about $890 when the 50D came out. Plus, when pricing for the Rebel T1i was released it didn't drop any because the bodies are in difference performance categories.

I'd get the D90 over the D5000... for the same reasons I bought the 40D over the T1i.

d300 would be the only nikon id buy.

the d5000 and d90 are as "professional" as a d60.

hahaha the D90 and the D5000 are pretty much the same camera, just with different body styles and the 5000 has a swiveling live view screen. They have the same specs though pretty much. The D60 is not nearly as professional as the D90 or D5000. I see where you're coming from about the D300 being more professional, but I'm not looking to spend that much. I just want something that will still be novice but more professional than the D60.

Then go with basic image quality and TTL flash features since you do studio work. If you continue to do studio the AF points will be useless. I have 9 AF points now compared to 7, and I only ever use the middle one.

Nice link. As you can see, they're pretty much the same based on image quality, but there's just differences in the body like I said. I guess I wanna know just if anyone would think either of these could be around the $600 range by like the end of this year or are they still too new? I know my D60 dropped in price significantly in like 6 months.
