has anyone had any experience with painting the interior trim?
would it be easier to remove the parts or just paint them inside.
did you use primer, should you?
what type of paint is recommended...not color, i mean brand or grade.

i've seen stuff from other forums (diff. cars) where every plastic piece is painted.

i think taking it out would def. be best, and krylon fusion should work well on plastic with very little prep.

did all the trim on my eclipse, take it out! its much easier and you will thank god you did. i used enamel paint by duplicolor, primer first then paint makes it much nicer, then finish with a strong clear coat, its no different then painting anything for your car

Yes, take them out. If you want to smooth textured peices, you can just use a bunch of filler primer, it works pretty well. Or just prep with some rubbing alchol and spray.

I have had the piece around gauges painted and center console painted. The best thing to do is take them out. I had them done by my friends friend. They look nice as long as the person doing it knows what they are doing. There is a reaction on the console on top of the cup holder so they should sand it down really good.

all of my removable trim (HVAC/radio surround, gauge surround, door switch surrounds, shifter surrounds, etc.) were removed and coated in fiberglass resin, then sanded, then coated again, then sanded, then painted with leftover paint from doing my bodywork/body kit. i must say it looks better than any other DIY job ive seen but it did take about a weekend to do since you have to wait for drying time between layers of the resin. it came out very factory-option looking and when its clean, the pearl looks awesome in day light! i'll try to get some pics up soon
