I'm slightly mad at myself. I think I'm the laziest person known to mankind when it comes to processing pictures. All the city shots that I took with Brandon, Eric (he's really not on this forum at all is he?...), and Ryan are all still sitting in Lightroom. And these were taken last Saturday!

I stare at them for 5 minutes and think to myself, "Eeeeh. I'll do these some other time. Besides, converting from DNG to JPG takes forever when I have to do 60 photos."

batch process dude...i made an action in PS for when i just want something converted to JPG quick. in fact, the pics i already posted were done with that.

select em in bridge, open, do exposure/contrast/fill/recovery/etc in ACR, select, open into CS3. then run the action which resizes to 900px (or 1024 for verticals? don't know why it does this), USM (40%/2px/?), save as (to memory card with "copy" at the end of filename..."copy" means not the full res JPG), quality 12, then closes the image.

from what i understand, LR is even better at doing this :coffee:

Eric is on here... He's ericthecheat and he has a 99 BCP sedan

I usually just sit down and process the damn things...

1. Go through aperture and export masters of the ones I like
2. Open each raw in adobe raw converter and adjust them
3. Open the processed images in photoshop and resize and save as jpeg

I just need to make a nifty action for resizing and watermarking

i'm less than 30 pics away from my limit in flickr. so now its time to decide who i want to pay to host my stuff :skurred:

i like flickr for the social aspect, tags, universal-ness, ease of use, and works as a widget inside wordpress. i dont like it cause (not necessarily for me cause i suck) of potential image theft, weird and changing ToS, and the interface is just "meh."

on the other hand, smugmug seems more "image focused" rather than "socially focused," more security steps can be taken, and just plain more customizable. i dont like the square previews (like flickr), it's more expensive, and most people arent on it.

decisions :skurred:

i'll still use flickr, but will be more selective in what i put in it...or maybe just get everything out of it but still use it for social purposes...

its like...you have to tag your stuff so you can get "noticed" or so others can find images easily. but that also gives people free (and easy) reign to find your stuff and use it without compensation.

some people say "i'm an amateur, i'd find it flattering." well...if people are finding my images good enough to steal, they must be decent and should fetch a price :madrun:

still on the fence :ugh:

and...thinking of selling my yashica rangefinder camera. the only things it's missing are the oem manual, hood, and cap. but it has the aux lenses (+$30) and finder (+$30) and case for em...even the manual. i cleaned it inside and out (including the mirrors), new light seals, new battery, and has 2 battery adapters.

i only have like $40 invested into the camera but i KNOW it can fetch $100-150 on ebay since it actually works and has been tested. i just dont use it as much as it should get used.

but i'm torn...because it's one of the best RFs ever made with a fast 40/1.7 lens, it's in great shape plus i got it for a steal of a price, and is almost a complete vintage kit. then again i need another bag and would like a new tripod, plus a pentax 16-45/4 lens would be super for street shots.

ugh

maybe i'll just keep buying em for $10-20, fixing em, then resell em. maybe. the first one i had needed a simple repair that would have required a very intensive disassembly :ughrun:

why useless? they're fun to use cause you don't have to worry about exposure and all that...same reason as having a digital PnS. not to mention good pics can be had since they're prime lenses with decent speed, they are tiny, and have DX coding so you won't forget to turn the ISO dial. only downsides to em is shutter lag, and no "pushing" of the film.

but the film cameras are full framez0mg@

i now have 1x weather sealed epic with 35/2.8 lens and 3x non-epics with 35/3.5 lenses. they're not the XA-series with Zuiko lenses...but still desirable.

the epic was $3.50, the rest $3 each. everytime i go into st. vinnys, one is sitting there all lonely. almost got another at goodwill for $3 but it was missing the film window thinger.

i'm keeping the epic...and if i can get $5-20 apiece for the others plus shipping costs...i still come out ahead :coffee:
