only bid in the last few seconds of the auction, and put in the price you want to pay. like...if the lens is worth $200 and you want to pay $175, put in $175 in the last 20 seconds of the auction and see what happens.

dont bid till they end...cause there are people paid by sellers just to up the bids on auctions (shill bidding). thats why you see the same person, usually with a low rating, bid like 20 times in $1 increments 4 days before the auction ends...

theyre not too bad. just need some tweaking of contrast/saturation/exposure/fill/recovery/sharpening, like most (all) pics do :lawl:

for a "kit lens" it doesn't do too bad. in better light i think it would be just fine.

Ok so I went out last night and had some great locations and scenery to use as a back drop for shooting my car. Heres the problem, I have a point and shoot minolta camera like this one
beitys.jpg
And I was reading the manual and there is all these settings like ISO? and some other things etc. So I have no idea how to use this. I know its not going to be great pics because I dont have a nice camera with different lenses etc but I thought that my pics would have came out a lot better than they did. Some looked grey and some pics came out extremely dark even though there was ample street lights etc. It frustrates me. I need some advice on what I might be able to do since I dont have the money to go out and buy a new camera. O yea I used kodak film from walgreens I think she said it was like 400 type? i dunno.

ok...

first, what model is the camera? in the manual, whats the longest shutter speed it allows?

second, don't use the flash. thats why some have come out gray and others have reflections.

third, does the camera set ISO automatically? there should be something about "DX coding" in the manual if it does.

fourth, a tripod is a necessity.

i guess we'll start there :coffee:

Ok ill check and get back to u about all that. So in the parking garage since there is so much artificial light I don't need the flash? And I am pretty sure everything sets automatically but ill read up on it

without getting too "into it" there are 3 things that, given the same scene, all relate to each other.

for example, in the garage...and this is just hypothetical...

ISO (film speed) : 400
aperture (how much light the lens lets in) : f/4
shutter speed (how long the film is exposed to light) : 1 second

OR...you could switch some things around...

ISO : 800
aperture : f/4
shutter speed: .5s

a doubling or halving in value of one number, requires the halving/doubling of another.

edit: flash is only usable up to like 10-12 ft, so anything beyond the beam will be dark...

Does this help? I know its not a great camera but I would like to see if this might help you in aiding me in having better picture quality

I do know now that I will not be using the flash in lit up parking garages because that causes the close up car pictures to turn grey.
