Welp, D1GP as a whole was an amazing event. But the organization as far as the media access went was horrible. It was WAY too easy for anyone to get a media pass. At times there were guys with point and shoots with media passes getting in my way, it was pathetic. They easily handed out 100+ of them. Plus the event organizers didn't tell us ****. I got there, walked up, didn't have to give ID or anything, nothing was all formal like the emails made it out. They checked my name off the list, gave me a silver wristband, and told me to go have fun.

Then about an hour or two into the practice runs they kicked all media people off the track, and told us we weren't allowed on the track for the real races. That's great. The whole point was to get good shots on the track, but instead they handed one guy some fence cutters and we went crazy making holes all over the place. But when you've got 100 guys with cameras and 6-7 two square foot holes, it's impossible to get good shots.

I got a lot of keepers, but most of them will be higher shutter speeds without much motion blur. I literally couldn't pan much at all because I'd be bumping into the other photographers on either side of me. Not even elbow room. :(

Whatever, I thoroughly enjoyed the event otherwise, and it was nice when all the other "media" guys took off running during the rain and I stayed shooting with my XTi under a plastic bag with my 70-200 sticking out. Those shots should be pretty nice.

kk enough typing, I'm going to go take an hour shower or so. I have a nice thick layer of rubber and gravel all over my skin. Perks of sitting on the exit side of the initial entrance corner to get decent angles I guess....

Here's a few that I snapped yesterday at a paintball tournament that I played in.

Much more aggressive post processing on these two than normal:

Sounds like D1 is...a mixed bag haha. I do want to see those pictures whenever you get a chance to go through them and upload them.

Oh and Ryan, I was shooting with the Kodak T-Max 100 on a Canon Elan 7 not too long ago. I need to finish off the rest of the roll, but I honestly cannot wait to see how it turns out.
