Stick with Hoya, Tiffen, B+W, etc. Don't cheap out and put a no-name filter with crappy glass onto a professional quality lens.

To add to that, get the upper end filters. I have a Tiffen UV on my 50/1.8, but it was a $12 filter. Multi-coated (MRC) type filters will shoot a bit better.

Same thing with polarizers, I have a $40 Promaster, but it doesn't compare to my B+W Kaesemann MRC one by a long shot.

Well, my sigma 30mm F/1.4 is sharp as a tack at F/2, and still pretty dang sharp at F/1.4, but its back focusing about a quarter of an inch, grr.

So I went out shooting with the Minneapolis Photo Society tonight... we definitely broke away from the group since they were all huddled around the same subject most of the time... boooooring.

I think I got some great shots...

- I saw a navy blue M3 parked at the Depot and we started snapping photos... after about 5 minutes the owner comes out and says "how about some interior shots as well?" So he opened up the doors and started chatting with us... then offered to move it to better light, etc. Pretty dope, I must say. He mentioned something about how he used to be an entrepreneur and now works for corporate america, didn't go into detail. He also said it was like his 9th M3... not sure if I believe it...

Here's the kicker: his 4yo daughters car seat was in the back  I asked if she enjoyed the power and the corners and he said she loves it! hahaha

- Got kicked out of the Federal District Courthouse for taking pics. Security guard came out and started interrogating me why I was taking photos, explained that 20 security cams were focused on me, said the head honcho of some department within the Department of Homeland Security was doing a security check. He asked me why I needed such high end equipment for a hobby, but I only had the nifty fifty on which isn't all the impressive for spying on the government... he then pointed at my friends dad with the Nikon D3/Nikon 70-200/2.8-equivalent lens and said "that doesn't look very amateur" He didn't seem to believe me, but didn't bother to ask to see the images... told me not to take pics of the building or the homeland security squad car... i got the shots.

- A man came up to us all shady as hell and explained he did paparazzi photos... hillary clinton, kevin malone, ron paul and a few other people. he said he had a D300 and went all over the country... said he does porno as well... he could barely explain what ISO, megapixel, full frame and aperture were and then he says he's never made any money from his work, but that he has the rights to poster sized images. then he told us it was a hobby and he was a cab driver. epic fail.

Sorry for my long stories...
