Well, I want a 300 2.8, but that would also be an example of a bad financial decision...

The nifty fifty (Canon version at least) has a very recessed front element. Especially with the hood you may find that you don't need it. It is my only lens that I do not use a UV filter on.

oh ok. thanks

i joined cb7tuner probably 3 years ago and never posted...kinda the same deal :lawl:

also since theyre selling it broken "after 12 years of good service," it makes you wonder why they're not fixing it. then again, i know one dude who got a broken 40d for like $200, and canon fixed it for about $250. maybe they think it'll cost more to fix than its worth?

That doesn't seem too bad for the price of a 40D. I wanna get one, this Rebel is making me seem kinda puny...

That's the non-IS version that is no longer made. Out of production normally means Canon won't even touch it.

You can trade in any DSLR + $650 or so and get a 50D refurb from Canon.

Really? Do they have that available for any other models? Ie the 40D?

No, I think it's only for their most current model, so that may switch to the 7D eventually. I think they do the same program for the G series point and shoots, but for less money. The thing with the trade in deal is that the camera you trade in doesn't even have to work!
