Re: Whelp , i perchased my j35 today

Have to at least drop the subframe some... and most likely modifiy the underside of the hood.

And yeah let me correct myself, I meant the CL-S (still a 2G!). Which is the same damn thing with two less doors. :rolleyes:

lolz ... Ok so am I wrong or right? will the J35 have enough clearance for the hood to close properly? or is there modification that needs to be done to the frame?

I am not sure how much taller the 3.5 is than the 3.2. But you will need to drop the subframe, or modify the hood, or use hood spacers, or a combination of those. Honestly no one that spends a good deal of time on this site has posted a detailed J35 build, you need to spend more time reading on V6P for this one.

J35A3/A4 has the spacer between the lower runners and intake manifold. Remove this for clearance.

In addition to removing the spacer, You will also need to do either of these two below for hood clearance:
1. Cut hood frame supports to provide clearance for the intake manifold
2. Drop the subframe(K frame) about 3/4 of an inch with spacers/washers.

Go read alot over on V6performance.net

yea ive been on v6p and thats actually where i read that a full j35 wont fit and that even if you drop the frame you would still have to cut the hood for clearance (dont think its worth it) and thats the reason why ppl just put the j32 with the j35 head and lower the frame alittle so the intake manifold could fit ... Also J35a4 ... what?.. thats not the one he has is it? I thought he said he got it from a tl type s .. thats the a8!? ... a4 not worth it a8 might be ...
PS You will be needing alot of oil pans my friend lolz

Don't hold what I say against me ppl this is he said she said at this point since what I'm saying is things I've read not seen

"One more thing" (old guy from the jackie chan cartoon voice) I read that the motor mounts from the cl-s wouldnt be good enough for this massive engine

Re: Whelp , i perchased my j35 today

J35a3 = MDX
J35a4 = Odyssey

3.2 and 3.5 heads are the same dimension. difference is the larger intake valve on the 3.2

I have the J35a3 w/o the spacer, k frame is dropped 3/4 of an inch and the hood supports are NOT cut. I have about 1/2 clearance between the I/M and the fire insulation.

trust me man, the J35A3/A4's are worth it. J35A8's are better, but they are DBW and lil more complicated to get set up...but there are a few guys doing it and having good success.
