You're good on your wireing diagram, but you will need a diode between the relay and your OEM trans switch, and another diode between the relay and your dash mounted switch.

This keeps the 12V from going unintended places when either switch turns on the relay.

In theory it would work without diodes, but in practice it will likely cause some sensor somewhere along the line to freak out.
12Ga is good for all your relay wires. Hell, I'd use 18 most likely, you're talking about less than an amp to switch a relay.
8Ga wire in a chassis situation is good to about 70 amps for the length of the vehicle. It might be overkill. How much current do your ballasts draw? 14Ga is good for 30, 12 is good for 40, 10 is good for about 55.
I do most of my chassis wiring with 12, with a 30A fuse there's practically no chance you'll overload a 12Ga wire, unless it's running 100ft.

ever heard of brake checking? lol
i do that with a combination of letting go of the accelerator slowing down till i force them to pass me then wen they try to switch lanes i cut them off and brake check and slow down and repeat the process

none of that would have to happen if the person behind him would cooperate and drive safely.

right, so exacerbating the situation with more aggressive driving is the solution.

makes perfect sense now.

Yeah, generally reverse lights don't tend to stay on for too long, and I don't plan on doing any night time backwards drag racing or anything so I think my housings will be just fine :)

Also, thanks for your input everyone ! Is this DIY worthy ? If not, I wont take pics along the way.

i dont think a bus load of nuns will be tailing me anytime soon
also if u rear end somebody whe rear endee is automatically at blame and sometimes is cited a fine for wreckless driving
hence not my fault i didnt start it and people need to learn to not **** with people u dont know

and you're the only cars on the road? What happens when your little brake check maneuver sends a car out of control into oncoming traffic?

You going to have the same feelings of "not my fault" when the accident you caused takes out an innocent family in a minivan in the oncoming lane? How are you going to rationalize it then? Did those people deserved to be maimed because you're pissed off at some tailgater?

If you think you that someone is automatically going to cite someone for rear ending you then you are an even bigger idiot than I thought. Try looking up "impeding traffic".
You don't think that the witnesses aren't going to tell the police you caused the accident by cutting off a person in another lane and slamming on your brakes? You don't think that the road rage laws apply to you?
and all of this is justified by what? Your sense of ego?

Tell you what.
put your e-penis away, stop pretending this is the fast and the furious and you're paul walker, get some sense and stop putting those around you on the road in danger.

Yes, some people are fawktarded and drive like a$$holes. Responding to an a$$hole driver with more a$$hole behavior is even dumber. So that makes you stupid squared or something.
